Betarq, together with the firm Nitidus Architects, was awarded in 2010 the Project and Management of the new Public Library of the State in Barcelona, promoted by the Ministry of Culture. This library, the largest in the Spanish state, will be built on the land adjacent to Barcelona’s France Station and will be one of the most singular works that will be built in the city in the coming years. Its construction is a direct consequence of the library not being established in the Born market and has had a strong media impact. The project, established in three bodies of different heights and 180 m in length, will have about 21,500 m2. It is currently in the approval and bidding phase.
